How the Men's Schedule is created

Above is posted the Men's 2007 Season Schedule.

I wanted to share exactly how the schedule is constructed.

1) Template

I downloaded a round robin Tournament Schedule (every team plays every other team once)
2) Draw

At the coaches meeting held December 7th all teams drew a number to see where they slot in on the pre-determined round robin rotation.
3) Repeated weeks

Since it takes 9 weeks to have all 9 teams play each other (8 games and a bye) and we have an 11 week regular season schedule, we drew 2 more numbers. Those are the 2 weeks that we repeat. We replay the games from week #1 in week #10. We replay the games from week #5 in the final week of regular season play, week 11.
4) Final Tweaks
At the coaches meeting I invited all teams to submit any scheduling preferances or considerations. As a result we swapped weeks #3 and #7 to give Walled Lake a bye on a week when their ward had another activity. We also switched around gametimes, and for the most part were able to give every team their preferance for early or late games.
